The 'gruesome' part of the title is right. There are quite a few scenes in here that are not for the faint of heart. But if you dare, this is an interesting mix of folk horror, teen drama and pop idol life that works surprisingly well. The author and illustrator clearly have a mastery of the Lovecraftian horrors their spoofing. Though the story kind of wanders at times and I didn't find it particularly funny, it was still a cute and creepy read.
