Has become one of my favourites. Lots of interesting characters. It was like walking into a Norman Rockwell scene, from a young girl's perspective. It's almost like Scout's older cousin, from To Kill A Mockingbird, smart, plucky, curious, wise-cracking, trying to find her way and solve a mystery in a world of busy and preoccupied adults. (This was a time when children were to be seen, not heard.) The setting is the 50/60s and written from that perspective. If you're not into history, you may prefer a more modern story. I'm a history buff, so felt like I was transported back to that time in small town America.
