One day at the mall, twelve-year-old Clara finds a note inside a purse. The note claims that it is from a girl named Yuming that has been kidnapped inside of a factory in Beijing and is being forced to work. While scribbling the note, Yuming weighed her options, would the note be able to free all of the children trapped inside of the factory? Threads tells the story of the two children and their everyday lives. I loved this book because it was told from both perspectives and it helped me understand child labour. I highly recommend this book to anyone ages ten and older. The only thing that I wished is the story was a bit more exciting, some of Clara’s chapters were a little boring. Overall, Threads by Ami Polonsky is a book for young readers. Rating- 4/5 stars. - @readit12 of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
