A silent rainy day can't stop this little boy from having fun. Wrapped up in his rain coat, the unnamed child steps out to play with the paper boat he made. He splashes and dashes through the puddles, and eventually puts his boat down to set sail. Much to the boy's dismay, the flow carries it away, but comfort awaits him at home. Gloomy greys hardly dampen out spirits, for whether against a dark sky, or within a downpour, the boy's cheerful yellow coat shines through. In fact, it is the contrast between colours, and the day and the boy's actions which gives this book its spirit of fun. For a little bit of extra fun, the endpapers contain instructions on how to make a paper boat and airplane. While it is short, it is very nostalgic, and the images are truly beautiful.
