Summary
Add a SummaryAll Bolt has ever known is danger, bad guys, and his adoring owner, Penny.... until he enters the real world. He travels across the country to rescue Penny from the evil Dr. Calico, but in the process he meets Mittens the alley cat and Rhino the adventure-crazy hamster (well, technically his heritage isn't all hamster. 1/16 wolf, a little wolverine in there somewhere.... anyway). Is he too late... or is Penny even in danger?

I was not disappointed.
That said, John Travolta sold me on his character. Miley Cyrus was very meh.
A mostly forgettable movie.
I must have missed the spectacular Bolt in theaters but am delighted I discovered it. The story is clever and the characters are likable. I loved the social stratum of the dog v. cat, cat v. pigeons, and the Hamster v. The World!
The social commentary about how people discard animals when they no longer fit into the owners' lives was crafty; the feeling of sadness and abandonment was palpable. Rather, than preaching, you experienced it -- and very effective. Bolt has it all -- a bit of a thriller, lots of fun, terrific animation, a good plot, and an excellent payoff. I can't recommend it enough.
Excellent family movie. Unconditional love is what makes a true superhero.
