Add a CommentIt was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
Fair – Gardens of the Night (2008) 110 min. As always, I seldom read what the film’s about before watching it – it avoids the natural inclination of prejudging the film. You could imagine the shock when I watched Tom Arnold kidnap an little 8 year old girl for the sex trade. The first half of the film is unbearable to watch and I had to fast forward through all of the scenes where the little girl was about to be hurt. There's nothing worse than harming a child and to make this a subject of film is difficult to comprehend other than to make us aware of such crimes. I've always had a difficult time understanding how the actors act out these scenes without being disturbing for the actors in the process. The second half of the film relates to the psychological and social consequences of this evil on the family and society in general. The tough street world depicted in the second half is horrifyingly to the point and delivers its message quite well. This is a tough film to go through and I wouldn’t recommend it other than to be aware that this evil is present in our communities. If you do borrow this film, I’d recommend the bonus feature “scrolling statistics” – you’ll be shocked on the magnitude of the number of children being assaulted in the U.S. alone. Simply put - It’s an abomination!!!
