Canadian singer songwriter. Jazzy and highly enjoyable record. Very talented artist.
I first heard her newer album (Mischievous Moon) before this one and this made me want to hear her more, hence, this. At first, I thought I was hearing Eartha Kitt, then maybe not...someone from the 50s crroning some pre-rock ballads or country. There's something special and unique and disctinct in her voice that make her a stand-out. And those songs, you thought, they were yesteryears' hits you're hearing for the first time, but they're not...freshly composed ones actually! If you like this, surely you would like her "Mischievous..." album better since it sounds more contemporary!
Sounds like a record of standards, but this is original material. I love it.
Made just last year, but Barber channels the 1940's like no one else. Really good.
