No, it's not a great, suspenseful Hitchcock film. BUT Barbara Harris and Bruce Dern are so funny and charming that I can overlook that. I think it also captures the 70s rather nicely if you feel like a bit of nostalgia.

Hitchcock's final film. Pretty disappointing.

Not one of Hitchock's Greater films. It was slow for te first hour. However, the second hour, really picked up with the hitchock suspense.

A particularly poignant film to watch since Ms. Black passed away recently. She is not your typical Hitchcock heroine, she's a lot pluckier and more intelligent. But still a good little film.

Not as good as remembered. But Karen Black is a cult goddess.

After a slow start, the film gets momentum and you'll find yourself enjoying the macabre sense of fun. Great cast and the master always brings something interesting and ironic, even in this, his last film, and considered one of his lesser efforts.

Family Plot doesn't have the glamour of the biggies, (e.g. North By Northwest, Vertigo, etc.), but it WAS the seventies... (of which I'm very fond, incidentally). Frumpy. Dingy. An ugly, brownish, avocadoey, burnt orange, harvest gold colored decade. But I digress. I'd heard that the film was critically panned, and didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Barbara Harris was adorable as the dramatic little nympho "spiritualist". Bruce Dern was pretty funny, in a bumbling sort of way. (Loved them in the brakeless Mustang on the mountain pass sequence.) Devane -- his charismatic, chiseled featured, usual self. Perfect for the bad guy. Karen Black was big in the '70s, something about her eyes always fascinated me. Altogether, this was an enjoyably suspenseful movie. It kinda felt like a two hour "Columbo", or a "Rockford Files" episode... It's amazing that Hitchcock directed this last one at 76 years old. He was really something.

Wasn't expecting too much but I really enjoyed this. BIt of a surprise & one of the best Hitchcock films I have seen. Never heard of the actors but they were really good.

George: "...By my research you're about as psychic as a dry salami." Blanche: "Nasty. Nasty, nasty." George: "I'm sick and tired of having you have me by the crystal balls."

Blanche: "...Don't start to fret, George, or our waterbed will be no fun at all tonight. As an actor, you should know, 'fretting' will ruin a performance." George: "You're not gonna have to worry about my performance tonight, honey. As a matter of fact, uh, on this very evening, you're gonna see a 'standing' ovation."
