Planet Earth is in the Milky Way Galaxy, the cloudy band of light that stretches clear across the night sky. How many galaxies are there in the universe? For years astronomers thought that the Milky Way was the universe. Now we know that there are billions of them. Gail Gibbons takes the reader on a journey light-years away.

Very informational non-fiction book. I think the author did a great job by simplifying the Galaxies for our hungry young readers and to cover all about Galaxies..

I read a lot of books about space because I love it.Do you know scientists now believe we may be in a black hole. How cool is that!!!

Excellent illustrations and photographs about the milky way and andromeda galaxies for beginners. The books tells about the night sky, the invention of the telescope, the stars and the different types of galaxies that have been discovered. Time is spent talking about our galaxy and its parts. This book does not get into the planets and parts of our solar system; just about galaxies. Not a lot of text; large pictures; easy to read.
