A young teenager named Jill is babysitting for the night and everything seems to be going to plan. But, as she starts receiving creepy phone calls and hearing strange noises, she begins to fear for the worst. Since this movie is a remake I can’t really criticize the storyline too much, but I did find it to be very slow-paced and have some fairly awkward moments. I expected more gore from this slasher/thriller film, but instead it was basically just an hour of building suspense. I would rate this movie 2/5 stars and recommend it to those who don’t mind cliched films. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

"Have you checked the children?"
As far as I know, this is the original babysitter nightmare movie, where the calls are traced to. . .inside the house! Ahhh! Get out! Only the first 20 minutes, which are nail-biting, are the babysitter part and then it picks up later when the killer escapes from a mental institution and cop turned p.i. Charles Durning tracks him down. Or tries to, as he loses him like 8 times. Carol Kane is the babysitter, Colleen Dewhurst is a woman he stalks, and Tony Beckley, who looks like a seedier Richard Burton, plays the killer. He died shortly after this film. The middle part is slow, but it picks up again at the end. Great, creepy soundtrack. Followed by a sequel and a remake. Also check out "Black Christmas," the original "Halloween," and the more recent "House of the Devil," which pays homage to the babysitter in danger horror movie.
