This mystery and crime film stars Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and more in this exciting and entertaining film. The movie is about a detective who works together with a robber in order to deescalate a hostage situation that is unfolding. To make matters worse, a corrupt power broker is trying to add fuel to the fire. What this movie did really well is building up suspense and tension throughout the film so you were always left wondering what would happen next. This role is one of Denzel’s best, making it a worthwhile film to sit back and enjoy. I would rate this movie 4/5 stars and recommend it to those who like action-packed crime movies. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

A very good thriller--Thought the role played by Jodi Foster was unique and I'm sure those characters exist in real life. Don't know why I haven't rated it earlier, have seen a couple of times and liked it every viewing. All actors are good, Willem DeFoe has good small role, and nails it, as usual.

Spike Lee can direct a movie!

Well-done cinemetography, etc. Intriguing intro.

No likeable characters though.

Story has problems as well, like why didn't he just use a couple of 5-gallon buckets for his **** (much quicker and simpler)?

When is a bank robbery not a bank robbery?

This is a 2006 American crime thriller directed by Spike Lee.
Gewirtz, a screenwriter, spent five years developing the film's premise before working on his first original screenplay.
Exposing the Nazi-related crime of the bank founder is a good idea, but the rest of the stolyline is preposterous, contrived, confusingly written without integrity.
An idea of a power broker played by Jodies Foster is quite silly.
No wonder the sequel has been cancelled.

Dalton Russell: This time next week, I'll be sucking down piña coladas in a hot tub with six girls named Amber and Tiffany.

Keith Frazier: More like taking a shower with two guys named Jamal and Jesus, if you know what I mean. And here's the bad news: that thing you're sucking on? It's not a piña colada!
