What an incredible ride. I've seen most of the movies that the Kendrick Brothers have done and I've enjoyed all of them. It seems like they learn something more about making films each time, and this one is no exception. Although it can sometimes be a bit predictable, there were enough surprises to keep it interesting and entertaining. A fabulous cast that was perfectly match with their characters. It reveals how God can work behind the scenes to cause things to work together for the good. It also invited us to do a self check as to who we really are. It reminds us to never discount another self worth.

Semi-enjoyable movie with okay acting and an extremely Catholic/religious message throughout the movie; so much so that it starts making you roll your eyes.

If you hate the Hallmark Channel-style religious films, skip this one.

As jimg notes below, the Kendricks have a formula -- inexpensively made films for an undemanding U.S. religious audience. If you liked The War Room, you'll probably like Overcomer; although it has fewer embarrassing stereotypes than the former film, which may or may not be a plus. You may also like it if you think Hollywood hasn't made a good film in the last 60 years, and/or you think profanity is a deal breaker. For the rest of us, there isn't much more than a sub-average inspirational sports movie. Priscilla Shirer, who starred in The War Room, also appears here, but doesn't get enough screen time.

Another winner from the Kendrick's clan. They have a winning formula and improve on it. Identical comment from their 2015 "War Room" applies to this film as well:

This is a wonderful family film, for non-Christians as well, with real insights into family, husband-wife relationship, forgiveness, work-life balance, concept of grace and the sport of cross country racing (rope jumping in War Room.)

A great movie, brought us to tears in some parts. Enjoyed seeing a multicultural cast and clear messages. The Kendrick Bro's have done it again!

Very moving, intelligent interwoven storyline with subplots that you really want to see resolved. Humble yourself, forgive, be forgiven and leave the rest with God because it's all any of us can actually do. Excellent and humble film.

At first I really enjoyed this movie and felt it raised some great points about where you are putting your identity. However, this movie also seems to go against divine healing and attributes God for causing illness as bringing people closer to Him. A better type of movie to look at is Breakthrough (2019) that has a better portrayal of God as healing people compared to this movie. Also we don't see the main character, Hannah Scott, as praying concerning her asthma spells either. It looks like this movie is avoiding that issue entirely.

Only 2 quotes in IMDb but they are two of the best ones:

Here is another essential quote interpreted from a book of the Bible, Ephesians in the New Testament:

I am created by God. He designed me... so I'm not a mistake. His Son died for me... just so I could be forgiven. He picked me to be His own... so I'm chosen. He redeemed me... so I am wanted. He showed me grace... just so I could be saved. He has a future for me... because He loves me. So I don't wonder anymore, Coach Harrison. I am a child of God.
