Growing up, Jill Biden wanted two things: a marriage like her parents' and a career. But her journey to fulfill those wishes would take unexpected turns, and her definition of family would be challenged again and again. After an early heartbreak, Jill was unsure what the future would hold. Then she met Joe Biden, Delaware's junior senator, who was grieving the loss of his wife and daughter while raising his two young sons. As they fell in love, Jill faced difficult questions: was she willing to commit to marriage? How would politics shape her family life--and her career? And could she become a mother to these boys? This is the story of how Jill built a family of her own: from seeking small moments of joy, to balancing the family's needs with her personal and professional goals, to forming traditions that helped carry them through tragedy--all with the support of an extended family circle. That circle would morph over the years, but the one constant was love. And whether finding her own voice as Second Lady or changing lives as a teacher, whether nurturing the Biden clan or surviving devastating loss, Jill discovered her own strength and came to understand what it truly means to make a family.WHERE THE LIGHT ENTERS is a deeply personal exploration of the love that defines family in its many forms. It is a brave and vulnerable glimpse into the creation of a beloved American family, and the life of the woman at its center.

I absolutely loved reading this book, Dr. Biden shares her life story, her marriage to Joe Biden and being stepmother to his two sons. I loved reading her stories about her family, faith and her time as Second Lady of the United States, and supporting those in uniform.

Jill Biden is an excellent writer and her warmth comes out shining in this book. The importance of family comes out throughout the book. She has had a checkered career as a community college professor and as second lady for eight years she has championed causes relating to the armed forces, cancer, and women's welfare around the world. I couldn't help comparing this book with Michelle Obama's "Becoming" and i have to confess I liked this book better. I can't wait to see if Joe Biden becomes President and how Jill Biden fares as first lady. I'm sure she'll pass this test with flying colors too.

Tears and joy. Dr. Jill Biden's style is all light and love. This book is a quick read which tells the story of an introverted teacher who meets an extroverted politician and becomes mother to his two sons as well as their daughter. Dr. Biden passionately believes that children should be safe at home and writes about family bonds.

It is better written and more intimate than Michelle Obama's memoir.

I appreciate Jill and Joe Biden's service to our country. I wondered how it would be to step into a family who had lost a mother and a sister, she really committed big time. I felt like maybe this wasn't the right time for her to be writing a memoir, she is still grieving loss of Beau. For all that she accomplished, not that inspiring.

Speaking as both an American citizen and a long-time volunteer activist who donated thousands of hours of work on behalf of women's rights, children's rights, labor rights, transportation and healthcare issues, et cetera, et cetera - - How dare Mrs. Biden write this book!
Her deceased son, while attorney general for the state of Delaware, publicly excused an adult male and father - - who had sexually assaulted his two children, ages 2-years and 3-years-old - - for not receiving any jail time! [He is a member of the duPont family of Delaware, of course!]
Her other son who was overage for a Navy commission, had his vice president father obtain an exemption for his drug addicted son who received a commission in the Naval Reserve as a Public Affairs officer [meaning no training was required, and direct and well-paying commission]. Finally, after failing every single drug test for one to two years, Biden's son had to be kicked out of the Naval Reserve!
How could such a mother who produced these two sons write this type of book!
Balderdash! !
Now a real democrat would vote Andrew Yang in 2020.
[Next up, we'll probably see Jeb Bush writing about his wonderful stalker son and daughter who grew up in drug rehab?]
