Highly entertaining for me. Better than any Bruce Willis films I have watched SINCE, except may be his 2012 "Looper" and as supporting actor in the two Sin City films.

*Based on Robert Crais's 2001 novel "Hostage."
*A real fortress like house in the Topanga Canyon area.
*Themes: action, police-crime thriller, hostage, home invasion, pyschopath (Ben Foster,) home alone etc.

A solid two-star yawn-fest full of one dimensional characters where the hero cop always comes out on top and no rich kid is ever harmed in the end. Bad guys (poor kids) and henchmen posing as the FBI get their gory punishment and the rich people (who are all criminals) come out scot-free. They had ever opportunity to explain the back-story to all of this action, but were too interested in the usual gun fights and explosions which added nothing to the story. Haven't there been enough of these made to last the rest of human existence?

This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. “Not too bad---good performance”. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

We have seen Bruce Willis in similar roles. However, in “Hostage”, he is not playing the invincible superhero of past films. His character has dealt with failure and this makes him human and likeable. The script is good and the movie is worth watching.

As action thrillers go, this one is not bad. You will forget about it in 6 months, however.

What do you say we rename today 'Low-crime Monday'? Followed by what? -Low-crime Tuesday.
I cook the books. You know, set up shell companies, offshore accounts. And I would encrypt it onto a disk and leave it at the drop point.
