Friends Divided

What an interesting book! It really goes into the contrasting personalities of Adams and Jefferson. Adams powered his way through life with exhaustive intellect but zero tact. He seemed to become increasingly antisocial. He may have been what we would now call "on the spectrum". Jefferson won friends by being admirably polite and solicitous. The divisions between the Federalists and the Republicans were deep and violent, and yet the country pulled through, which gives one hope that we will survive today's political problems.
