A fairly good boy-did-I-screw-up-bigtime movie. Gere is the main reason for watching what would otherwise be a below-average film. His performance is excellent. Sarandon is mostly wasted but has a great scene near the end. I agree with the other commenters that the ending was disappointing. Still, it's worth a watch.

Directed by Nicholas Jarecki, this is a 2012 American drama that turns out a well-crafted story with a tense, gripping and edge-at-your-seat thriller.
Although it's a crackling and ingeniously involving story, it somewhat disappoints me with an open-ended anticlimax.

Money buys power and you become untouchable! Excellent performance by Richard Gere.

Fabulous acting, great script and a plot that does not preach at all. Real characters...what does he do at the end, does he take the deal??? Wonder what others think.

This is a good film. Gere is a great villain and makes the film. The plot is rather thin and complicated, so it's hard to follow. Worst of all, the end of the film is ambiguous and Gere doesn't get his just deserts --- jail time. Guess the libs who wrote and directed this film were Occupiers who think that rich people get away with Hell. How ignorant our Occupier buddies are. That's why they're in Oakland. They belong there because "There is no There there."

Suspenseful. Great plot. Can't go wrong with any movie starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon.

Decent suspense film. Agreed, Richard Gere makes the film work.

Richard Gere's performance saves this film from mediocrity. A story about the depravity of a financier obsessed with power and wealth, there's nothing surprising here except perhaps the ending--which is more realistic than one might expect.
