"Engrossing...Deliciously savage and wildly entertaining."-- People Magazine (Book of the Week)

From Jessica Knoll--author of Luckiest Girl Alive , the instant New York Times bestseller and the bestselling debut novel of 2015--comes a blisteringly paced thriller starring two sisters who join the cast of a reality TV series. One won't make it out alive. So...who did it?

When five hyper-successful women agree to appear on a reality series set in New York City called Goal Diggers , the producers never expect the season will end in murder...

Brett's the fan favorite. Tattooed and only twenty-seven, the meteoric success of her spin studio--and her recent engagement to her girlfriend--has made her the object of jealousy and vitriol from her castmates.

Kelly, Brett's older sister and business partner, is the most recent recruit, dismissed as a hanger-on by veteran cast. The golden child growing up, she defers to Brett now--a role which requires her to protect their shocking secret.

Stephanie, the first black cast member and the oldest, is a successful bestselling author of erotic novels. There have long been whispers about her hot, non-working actor-husband and his wandering eye, but this season the focus is on the rift that has opened between her and Brett, former best friends--and resentment soon breeds contempt.

The Favorite Sister explores the invisible barriers that prevent women from rising up the ranks in today's America--and offers a scathing take on the oft-lionized bonds of sisterhood, and the relentless pressure to stay young, relevant, and salable.

I was initially excited to pick up this story of a group of women who are part of a reality show. I don't watch any of the Housewives of _____ shows, but I won't lie--I think there's something fascinating about them. And this insider's look at what it might be like to be on a show of this nature was kind of appealing. As I dove into the book, I found it had a major issue. This story's big flaw is how hard it is to keep track of who-is-who. I listened to the audiobook version and that helped me sort out a couple of the characters, but I must admit that until nearly the very end I found myself trying to look back at my paper copy of the book to see who various characters were. I think this was a problem of characters who were similar and too many story-lines converging.

I think I'd be willing to try another book from Jessica Knoll because despite the confusion caused by the layout of this story, I often found myself pulled in by her fast, witty dialogue. I think a better edit might have tightened up this tale and kept it from getting so out of hand and over-the-top confusing.

Agree with majority of the comments. Did not like this book. Slowest book ever - i finished it to finish, but had no interest in it; nothing happens throughout the whole book until about the last three chapters.

If you watch any of the Real Housewives shows, this book will entertain you. A splashy look at the inner tensions and dramatics of a reality tv show. It's not exactly sophisticated literature, but was a fun book to read over a weekend.

I tried to get into this book. Got about 50 pages in and couldn't do it anymore. What a bunch of nonsense.

A scandalous mystery set against the backdrop of a reality tv show. Lots of women behaving badly...not a ton of depth, but entertaining.

The previous comments are correct based on the fact that it takes a while to get into this book. There are a lot of characters and in the beginning it’s a little confusing. I’m a huge Real Housewives fan and I stuck through it. In the end it was worth it. About 1/3 through the book picked up and was really good. I don’t regret finishing it. As for the reviews comparing to Luckiest Girl Alive, I thought that was slow to start as well.

I should have listened to everyone else. This book is nothing like Knoll's first book which I loved! I couldn't get into it, I found it confusing and as another commenter is too short for bad books. So disappointing

I was really looking forward to this book, since I enjoyed Knoll's Luckiest Girl Alive so much. However, after many attempts, I just could not get into this book. I finally gave up. Life is too short for bad books!
