In this delightfully charming teen spin on You've Got Mail , the one guy Bailey Rydell can't stand is actually the boy of her dreams--she just doesn't know it yet.

Classic movie buff Bailey "Mink" Rydell has spent months crushing on a witty film geek she only knows online by "Alex." Two coasts separate the teens until Bailey moves in with her dad, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush.

Faced with doubts (what if he's a creep in real life--or worse? ), Bailey doesn't tell Alex she's moved to his hometown. Or that she's landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she's being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth--a.k.a. her new arch-nemesis. But life is whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever-it-is she's starting to feel for Porter.

And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex... Approximately.

Bailey Rydell loves getting lost in a world of classic movies, and her connection with Alex in an online movie chat room makes them seem like an ideal match - at least virtually. Her connection with Alex is put to the test when she attempts to meet him in person and come to terms with her difficult past.

With a 'You've Got Mail Vibe', this book is peppered with movie quotes and classic film stars that will leave readers wanting to geek out on classic film treasures.

Teen romance. Bailey meets Alex online. She moves to live with her divorced Dad and meets Porter. After the initial predictable part in which she hates Porter, she then falls in love with him. Then, it turns out that Alex and Porter are--gasp--the same person. Quel surprise! Huge drama ensues because Porter thought she was cheating on him with Alex. Happy ending. I felt like the author manufactured a lot of unnecessary drama, and that the characters over reacted to a degree that wasn't authentic. However, it was a cute story and the author was skillful enough to keep me reading right to the end.

Great teen romance: good character development and great chemistry. Fans of You've Got Mail will recognize the basic plot, but it's updated in a nice way and definitely worth a read.

Definitely see the "You've Got Mail" for the YA generation that was mentioned by another poster. Lots of fun classic movie references in a California Beach town setting that feels like a retro movie set. Sweet and steamy romance and appealing, well-developed characters. Perfect beach read!

This book is the perfect summer read! It's cute, it's light, and it's funny. I could actually feel the chemistry between the protagonists. My only complaint is that the book dragged a little bit, and that we knew from the start where it was going. I guess the point of the book was the journey, and not the destination.

This quirky novel is great for classic movie buffs; a modern day teen "You've Got Mail"

When Bailey moves in with her dad in a small California town, it's for more than just a new start. You see, there's this guy. A guy who she has been talking to for quite some time online, and it turns out...he lives in this town, too. The thing she doesn't know? What his real name is, or what he looks like. And he doesn't know she's moved to town. After having met on a movie lover's forum, the pair are practically perfect for each other, until they slowly start to drift apart. Bailey is starting to like this guy that she works with at her summer job, even though he irritates her to no end. And as she and Porter grow closer, she and Alex start to drift apart. Unless...

Are you picking up the You've Got Mail vibes yet? Cause they're totally there. More an "inspired by" tale than a retelling of, this adorable story will make you cackle and squee through to the very end.
