This series is spectacular. It might not look like it on the surface, but look a little closer, and you find that it's a touching story about growing up and friendship; the most simple and beautiful joys in life and doing what you love. I've been playing tennis all my life, and this manga inspires me.

The highly popular Prince of Tennis Is an okay read. The drawings are crisp and full of movement. Visually the Manga is well crafted.

Writing wise, the protagonist is pretty one dimensional; Ryoma Echizen is a stoic super-duper tennis prodigy. He's a standard archetype in Manga stories, the only difference is that this story is a bout Tennis.

I can see how this title quickly became a popular with shojo readers because of the prettily drawn boys. Read it if you are truly a fan of Tennis or Shojo stories.

But you don't have to take my word for it...

Prince of Tennis is my favourite Sports manga. The plot is really simple and in parts predictible, but I enjoyed the characters from various schools. Every chapter was filled with Tennis action and watching the growth of Ryoma Echizen is fun.
