Porter Wren (Adrien Brody) is a New York City tabloid writer with an appetite for scandal. On the beat he sells murder, tragedy and anything that passes for the truth. At home he is a model family man, devoted to his loving wife (Jennifer Beals). But when a seductive stranger (Yvonne Strahovski) asks him to dig into the unsolved murder of her filmmaker husband Simon (Campbell Scott), he can't resist. In this modern version of a classic film noir, we follow Porter as he is drawn into a very nasty case of sexual obsession and blackmail - one that threatens his job, his marriage, and his life.

Well written and acted. It is rare that a 2 hour film is so well combined with some plot twists and characters who morph unexpectedly. Campbell Scott is seriously twisted and very unlikeable, good acting chops!

Adrien Brody is not believable as a love interest for a beautiful woman. They should have used a homely woman to match his countenance.

What a poor use of Adrien Brody's great talent. Borrow "The Pianist" instead. I really get tired of humans who throw away children and partners for lust. When one adds this confusing, convoluted plot the film is a big waste of time. There are no heroes in this movie. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Poor acting, implausible plot.

Waste of some great actors. Too many plot holes to make a decent story or film. Highly derivative of other, better films.
