I found this very disappointing. I have liked Kenneth Branagh in many things, but he was terrible as Poirot. He played Poirot like a caricature, and it was abysmal to watch. I think that David Suchet, who played Poirot in the long-running tv series, was absolutely perfect as Poirot and played ... Read More »

I did enjoy this movie based on an Agatha Christie novel. It had an all-star cast, and this movie was like a who done it type of movie where someone gets killed, and then the detective goes around and lists all the suspects on the train until he finds out who the mystery killer is. In other words this movie had both Mystery and Suspense.

Just don't bother. If you want a Hollywood version, watch the older film. Otherwise, stick to David Suchet's TV Poirot. Branagh & co should have known better, but this resembles his attempts at Shakespeare. Ill-cast, lousy adaptation of the novel, wooden acting. Two hours I'll never get back. Reminder to avoid remakes wherever possible.

Fabulous new version of the Agatha Christie mystery, directed and starring Kenneth Branagh. The casting and actors are excellent, the cinematography is gorgeous and offers some inventive shots and angles, the costumes and locations/sets are beautiful, the editing is well-paced and the music score by Patrick Doyle is memorable. Be sure to watch the bonus features. If you love learning about how films are made, watch the film a 2nd time with the Director's commentary on. I enjoyed the original film version back in the 1970s with Albert Finney and wondered how this one would stack up. Well, I'm glad to say this film, unlike so many films that are remade these days, is a worthy successor. I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie is one of the most iconic murder mysteries ever written. In this movie, when a murder occurs on the Orient Express it's up to Hercule Poirot - the world's greatest detective to find the killer before they strike again. In my opinion, the 2017 movie did the novel justice. From Johnny Depp to Daisy Ridley this movie was very well cast, and not to mention it's amazing camera work. Although it may seem cliché, my favourite scene has to be when the murder was finally revealed. The acting by Michelle Pfeiffer truly left me with goosebumps. I'd definitely recommend watching this movie. 4.5 Stars

I thought it was a worthwhile two hours of my time. It's great to see a mix of some of Hollywood's best from the past, the present, and its future.

No matter how many 'versions' of this Agatha Christie's classic they want to make into a movie, it's still the same-old-same-old. You know what's coming so it's up to the special effects to try to spice things up. Unfortunately, Fx can only go so far so this well made movie does not impress that much. 3 stars for being one of those movies when you got nothing better to do and there's nothing else to watch.

In one word: Pathetic.

Branagh's Poirot is a joke, especially after David Suchet's definitive performances on British TV; it was wrong on so many levels (running around in the snow?! Not dying his hair and moustache?!).

There are so many problems with this film I cannot list them all in this short space...

In almost every aspect this new version is inferior to the classic star-studded 1974 version with Albert Finney as Poirot - don't bother with this one, go borrow the "original" which is still a delight to watch, and has a much better setup and plot.

Finally, one element just REALLY irritated me - it's December in snow-covered mountains, and nobody's breath is visible... That's just sloppy film-making.

I loved this movie for the cinematography. The train scenes were lavishly decorated and the mountain scenery was beautiful. I liked the all star cast and after watching it twice, I would watch again. The movie intrigued me and drew me to reread Agatha Christie books. I enjoyef the movie and I would recommed.
