The first part of a trilogy and the best one; and a wonderful parody for horror-lovers to see how Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright frantically play with the cliches of the genre.

One of my favorites!!!!
After the original Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead is the best of the zombie movies. It works very well as a comedy and as a horror movie. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are excellent as a pair of slackers in London who don't realize when the zombie apocalypse starts.
When they finally figure out what's going on, the movie shifts from comedy with a few zombies to zombie movie with a big dose of comedy. Be warned, however, the last act of the film is darker than you might expect, with both sad moments and some zombie horror elements.
For the few people who haven't seen this masterpiece by Edgar Wright, Shaun of the Dead is highly recommended.
Whether it's a comedy, a horror, a musical, or whatever - I have to tell you that I am absolutely "sick-to-death" of zombie movies. I really am.
Someone (whose opinion I trusted) told me that "Shaun of the Dead" was a "cut-above-the-rest". Well - The truth is - What they told me was W-R-O-N-G!
For all of the big, bloody, bloated fuss that's been made over this one - I'm sorry to say - But this disappointed viewer found "Shaun of the Dead" to be way-way too over-rated for its own good. Yep. I sure did.
Shaun of the Dead is a British romantic comedy about a zombie apocalypse directed by Edgar Wright, one of my personal favourite directors. Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, it's a very entertaining movie. Shaun of the Dead is part of the cornetto trilogy, with the other two movies being Hot Fuzz and The World’s End. In my opinion, Shaun of the Dead is the best one in the trilogy. The film is about Shaun and his friends surviving the zombie apocalypse, with a few twists and turns along the way. If you’re looking for a silly yet pretty violent film, this one's for you. This movie would definitely be one of my absolute favourites. I definitely recommend this film to anyone interested in these types of movies, and give it a 5/5. @Gummibee11 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Shaun is a fairly boring man, who works a boring job, lives with his boring friend, and only ever wants to hangout at the pub. The only thing trying to force him to evolve and grow up is his girlfriend Liz. After his town is suddenly ravaged by zombies, it is time for Shaun to rise to the occasion and rescue his girlfriend (as well as his mother). This film was directed by Edgar Wright, and as a result had phenomenal shots and many scenes with exquisite attention to detail. The writing was tired at times, however, it was a very well produced film and had a very comedic take on normally horrific films. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
An ordinary slacker bloke gets a major wake-up call as zombies invade the 'hood. Scary periods of zombie attacks alternate with humorous scenes of family and friends bickering over strategy and survival tactics as they fight their way toward the safety of the local pub.
I rather enjoyed this movie! Killing zombies would not be fun, I'm sure. Although, the characters did well with what they had. This movie was quite funny all through, and at some points, I actually wish I were there in the pub with them lol. I've watched this movie three times and I know I will watch it again a few more times. It really it quite humorous!
One of my biggest beefs behind my major disappointment of "Shaun of the Dead" was that, for more than half of the goddamn time, I could not - (I repeat) - I COULD NOT understand WTF!? anyone was saying. I'm not kidding!
Yeah. OK. I know damn-well that everyone was, indeed, speaking English (or, at least, I think they were), but with all of the bloody heavy-duty British accents, and the weird/alien slang, and the annoying way that everyone was always running all their goddamn words together - Well - As you can well-imagine, it was making me so ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!
Believe me, there were many-many times when I know for sure that I had just missed out on getting the punchline of yet another killer-diller joke. But because my ears just weren't tuned into the incomprehensible way that everyone was speaking the English language - Well - I totally missed out on yet another belly-laugh.
And besides not being able to comprehend the unbelievably garbled lingo of these British boys and girls - I detested the final climax of this film, big time. It was such a blatant rip off from "Night of the Living Dead". It was. And all that I could do while it was happening was just yawn my head off until it was all over. It was really that dreary and dull to me.
don't waste time watching this
Having seen all of the movies Edgar Wright has directed except A Fistful of Fingers, I like Shaun of the Dead best. Wright also directed Baby Driver, The World's End, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Hot Fuzz; they are all worth seeing. Shaun of the Dead is much more funny than scary, though I had forgotten that it and its zombies are a bit slow. The cast features familiar faces from the British TV show Spaced, which Wright also directed, as well as The Office (UK) and Black Books. The movie is rated R for zombie violence/gore and language.
