As time has passed Jack Higgins books have become simpler and less detailed. That shows in MIDNIGHT BELL. His basic stories are still solid, but it's made too easy and things always go the good guys' way. Still a fun and easy, quick read, but not as good as when he was in his prime.

Disappointing sloppy work from a writer that used to do better books.

The latest Master to come along if you keep track of them as they go by plagues Charles Ferguson and his team in this latest book by Higgins, who at least minimizes his use of the exceedingly dull character Daniel Holley this time out. That said, the author should have stopped writing several books ago.

Same old same old and they were bound to get the baddie in the end . Stock characters and situations. It could work on the small screen, though because that's how it read. I think Jack Higgins/ Harry Patterson should call it a day on the Irish Troubles and Sean Dillon after 22 episodes.

Worst writing ever. Must be a screenplay.
