With a skilful blend of anecdote and argument, leading cybersecurity thinker Alexander Klimburg brings us face to face with threats that the struggle for cyberspace present, from an apocalyptic scenario of debilitated civilian infrastructure to a 1984-like authoritarian erosion of privacy and freedom of expression. Authoritative, thought-provoking, and compellingly argued, The Darkening Web reveals the menacing possibilities of a twenty-first century dominated by information warfare, and explains how the original promise of the Internet as a means for advancing freedoms can be regained.

If you're interested in the subject matter, this is a worthwhile read. But too often the book seemed to me to be a grab-bag of information and thoughts that while readable wasn't notably coherent. Worth taking a look, though...

I gave this book 5 Stars for being highly informative, although some of the author's opinions I don't agree with [wish people would stop referring to Kevin Mitnick as a legendary hacker - - he's not even close!].
DISCLAIMER: The author's final two short chapters, Conclusion and the Epilogue, are not only idiotic, they are beyond idioicy - - but since the author is a fellow with the Atlantic Council, goes without saying he is a minion of the global banking cartel and Transnational Capitalist Class. I won't write my usual rant, the reader may form their own conclusions, including deducing perhaps the author is poorly read where modern history is concerned.
