A New York Times Best Seller If you could read my mind, you wouldn't be smiling.

Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off.

Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist.

Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear. The book was lovely because it wasn't only a book about a teenager dealing with her OCD but growing up and learning that who she is now isn't who she really is and wants to be. The plot twist had me in tears because i loved that person so much it was real! Definitely would recommend

Sam struggles with OCD, but no one knows her secret. When she finds poetry, her life changes forever.
I really enjoyed this one! A lovely romance, a new perspective of a mental illness that I knew little about, and a real love song to the life saving power of music and poetry.

I thought the book was really good. I do wish the book could have added more aspects of what it's like to have OCD. I feel like it was definitely a part of the book but the story is about a girl struggling through it. I guess it could've been written more vividly. After the plot twist I couldn't put the book down.

BORING... a good twist at the end... but overall, BORING. OCD is barely even a part of this book.

This is one of my favorite books. It was one of those books that you want to finish reading, but at the same time you don't want it to end. It gave me a different outlook on life and people in general. Sam is such an interesting character that is easily relatable in the strangest of ways. I actually have a love of writing poetry and now I really wish that the 'Poet's Corner' at her school was real. This story changed my perspective and was just overall amazing-from the characters to the plot line. It was such a worth while read.

I enjoyed this book too much. I read it in one day.

This book is a fantastic read for those who struggle with any type of mental illness or those who just want to understand others better. This book was a beautiful story about two people who struggle with their disabilities on a day to day basis, coming together. They supported one another, made each other stronger, and eventually changed each other’s lives for the better. It was a very inspirational story, about a reality that many people struggle with. I absolutely loved it, and it really helped me understand that it only takes one person to change someone’s life around.

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone was recommended by one of my friends, and to be honest, I didn’t like it when I first started reading it. I wasn’t a fan of the author’s writing style, as it didn’t seem complex enough for me to fully enjoy the book; the storyline seemed very basic or common where the main character, Samantha, who is popular in her high school is actually wearing a façade to mask how damaged she is on the inside, and how later she finds the right path with the right people and changes into her real self. The first ¾ of the book were following this storyline which ceased to interest me, but when the book neared the end, the author popped something unexpected which intrigued me, and also surprised me. Overall, the book was structured and developed which was the reason I kept reading the book (and I’m happy that I did keep reading or else I wouldn’t have came across the plot twist). I recommend this book for ages 13 and up. I give this book a 3.5/5 star rating.

I really liked reading about how Sam coped with her OCD through poetry and I liked the characters. Sometimes it was a little slow, but overall an above average book.

Such a good read! Samantha suffers from OCD and the author does a great job of making you aware of it but not making it the focus of the book. Samantha is in treatment and is trying to make her life a friendly place to live. Every teenager needs a Poet's corner in their life. GREAT twist at the end!!

Upon the first line, I immediately became enraptured with this book. It was an enjoyable read and I loved the poetry. I wish the poetry corner existed! The end of the book features a plot twist that you will never see coming. If you love poetry or want to learn more about OCD, this is the perfect book.

After you left
I stared at the driveway
Feeling its emptiness
Wondering if you'd return.

After you left
I thought about your questions
Wishing I hadn't been so blunt
Wondering if I scared you away.

After you left
I remembered how you felt in my arms.
How you fit so perfectly there. Like my guitar.
Wondering if I should have kissed you when
I had the chance.

After you left
I sat in my room
Remembering all the things you said, and
Wondering about all the things you didn't.

After you left
I sat in silence.
Missing you in a way I didn't quite understand.
Wondering if you'd ever come back.
