A good movie. The only problem I had was the sound, I couldn't understand half the dialogue
and no subtitles. Jessica Chastine is very good as usual but a lot of her dialogue was very softly spoken.

PG13 really! This movie is not kid appropriate and seems thrown together.

Not horrible, but not very compelling, either. Could have been told better.

This film telling the story of gentiles attempting to save hundreds of Jews during the Hitler regime is very good, but not excellent. I suspect that the film makers could not decide which topics should have been amplified and which should have been expunged.

Just finished watching the movie and it was sad to see the life changing events in a country.
where people were persecuted, and the people who had tried to help as many people to escape. The actors who acted in this movie were great.

A significant historic episode about the righteous and brave operators in the Warsaw zoo in WW2. While there are numerous films on the unimaginable fate for the Jews under Nazi occupation, this also described the calamity for zoo animals in war torn countries (another film on animal, family pets, in WW2 was the 2009 "Glorious 39"; and hinted that others, Polish or Germans, either helped directly or turned a blind eye to the rescue activities. Brühl (born in Barcelona and raised in Cologne Germany) seems to be the actor of choice in similar tenet cinema as his roles in "Alone in Berlin 2017" and "Woman in Gold 2015." A must watch, at least once.

A movie of survival and belief to keep going. Cannot imagine how these folks did what they did.

A sort of well meaning but plodding movie that seems much longer than it is. Jessica Chastain is a good actress but her Polish accent is both terrible and terribly distracting through the whole movie. A much superior movie on the same subject is Agnieszka Holland's "In Darkness". Holland along with her cast and crew being from Poland invests her movie with the insight and nuance about Polish society that seems lost in the Zookeeper's Wife team of Anglo-American writers,directors and actors.

A great uplifting WWII story of resistance. The young couple of the zookeepers come to the decision to smuggle over Jewish people ( all in all 300) out of the Warsaw ghetto and hide them in the basement of their villa on the territory of the Zoo. It was a heroic deed. The movie may seem slow in action, but there is an explanation to the slow pace: you must be very careful because you are saving people, you are walking on the edge of danger every moment.

It's not your fault. You have always been so good to me, Miss. You and your husband. Now, I'll be good to you. Be careful.
===
Dr. Korczak... Where are they taking you?
-We are going to a land called Ro, to visit a great magician there. His name is Zi. He's a very good friend of mine.
Yes. Dr. Korczak, my car is outside the gate. It's just outside, just there.
-It's impossible. I need your help now, or the fear will be unmanageable. God bless you, Dr. Zabinski.
===
They'd be our guests until we found them refuge.
-A human zoo.
===
Dr. Korczak. But then what of the children?
-What of them, Dr. Zabinski? My heart is no different than yours. I should not be here, they should not be here, you should not be here.

A good German:
Uh... Szymon told me about you. He... said some, um... interesting things. Uh... Listen to me. The ghetto walls were built against our Labor Bureau building. We have two doors. One opens into the free side of the city, the other, into the ghetto. In one way, out the other,you understand me?
-Yes.
I will give you papers that will give you access either way. Dr. Zabinski,
welcome to the Labor Office. You can take the workers out, I will see that
they are signed back in. ... (To German soldiers) This is Dr. Zabinski. He works for me. You will allow him through whenever he comes or goes. ... Look, this is Dr. Zabinski, he's allowed to pass through every time.

Herr Heck has taken over the Berlin Zoo from his father. And his brother
runs the Munich Zoo.
===
Maybe she should play a German waltz. We may all be learning the goose-step within a year.
===
People always want to run when they don't know what's coming. It's their first instinct, always to run.
===
They called me Urszula.
-Urszula means "she-bear." Did you know that?
Yes. My father used to say it. Good evening. Hello. It's almost "bearable" today.
===
You have no idea what kind of man I am.
-Oh, but I do. I do, Lutz. You are a serious man. You're a man of intelligence
and of breeding. Not the kind of man that would shoot a child.
===
What have you been up to, Frau Zabinska, in your little zoo?
