The Barringtons and the Cliftons are, of course, the good guys again, and, while I won't spoil anybody's fun, the villains are back and there are more of them. The story gets repetitive, with many cliff hangers at the same time. That must be Archer's secret, because I kept turning the pages while thinking I had better things to do with my time. He always ends each book in this series with a greater cliff hanger than the last, so the reader (including me, I confess) must read the next. This one had a couple of scenes that really did not make sense--either the time line was off, or something else a good editor would have caught. I'll finish the series, but not read any other Archer.
The story goes on and on.
I love it.
I agree with a reader,,,,"do not read comments" some readers give the ending away. Best Kept Secret the 3rd novel of Archer's trilogy was spoiled for me by a reader's comment..Too bad he/she couldn't keep the best kept secret. I will not read anymore comments thanks to this.
Readers who give away the plot are people who are insensitive, and all wrapped up in themselves.
I enjoyed it very much. I like that there a many small endings and everything isn' drawn out to a boring full book when you are just saying I really don't care anymore, just end it. I, for one get involved with characters and don't like to leave them at the end of a book. So I do enjoy a series. He kept me so interested I forgot to turn on the telly.
It is a testament to this author's writing skill that even though I have read this book earlier I read it all over again. This book from the Clifton Chronicles deals with the Cliftons and the Barringtons in the post war era and gripping as it is at some points archer, with his droll British humour, keeps us in stitches. And what do you know? Another cliffhanger. Am waiting with bated breath for that one.
I returned this book at least a week ago.
Please confirm that your records do not show that the book is still out. Thanks.
Another excellent Clifton Cronicles read - as his nefarious characters become more and more gross!!
Looking forward to the newest book coming out in March.
I thought this one a good read. I enjoyed it every bit as much as the other two in the trilogy.
