Split is the 2nd movie in a Trilogy about these characters, the first movie was “Unbreakable” Staring Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson. The 2nd movie is called “Split” with James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy, and the 3rd movie is called Glass Staring all 4 of them together. Bruce Willis is Unbreakable, James McAvoy is Split (as in Personality), and Samuel L Jackson is Glass (as in brittle bones like glass). The girl is used as a Plot Point for James McAvoy In both Split and Glass.
I hope this helps some with understanding the Trilogy and where and who the characters are in relation to the different movies.

Not many movies these days are truly creepy and unnerving but James McAvoy's performance is outstanding. I have no idea why he wasn't at least nominated for an Oscar. MNS did a great job writing and directing.

Great actors with a very poor script. Some directors are not scriptwriters, very sad.

Written, directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan in 2016 as a standalone sequel to the 2000 film "Unbreakable", this American psychological thriller depicts the strange man with 23 different personalities who kidnaps and imprisons three teenage girls in an isolated underground facility.
At the end, the film shows Bruce Willis reprising his Unbreakable role in an uncredited cameo.
For the viewers who don't know the previous film, this appears as a distraction-and-puzzle.
It turns out an open-ended for the sake of the final part of the trilogy---titled "Glass".
Therefore, this thriller seems unsolved, and I feel unsatified at all.

This film does a great disservice to people with mental health issues. Having studied mental health I can tell you this film takes many of the old stereotypes, prejudices and myths about mental health and wraps them up in one film. Some of the major falsehoods can be expressed through a series of themes that anyone can research. Those mental health themes related to the film are as follows: inhuman strength, animal like or dehumanization, a threat or terrorize, criminalization and abnormal. Split reinforces these stereotypes, prejudices and myths and by doing so further entrenches the stigma surrounding mental health while adding fear as the prevalent theme. People with mental health issues are human beings and not to be feared. The trauma and problems they face are not separate from our own but one and the same. The sooner we understand this, the better off as a society we will be and damaging films like Split can stop being made.

I have loved James McAvoy's acting for a long time now. His performance in this movie is superb. I enjoyed the ending and the set up for Glass the next movie in the series. Shyamalan,M..Night's best movie since Signs IMO. I did enjoy Unbreakable the first movie, and Bruce Willis's cameo in this movie is a nice foreshadowing for Glass. Not extremely gory, a thriller, and a chiller. Well done

FREAKEN AMAZING! James McAvoy's ability to portray all the different characters and expressions with the flip of a switch. We found that the movie actually wasn't too gory. It is definitely a scary concept and about a sociopath but the director keep it to the necessary content and its bury the movie in gore.

A bit too creepy for my taste. I just want to know if that is McAvoy's real physique or CGI. To look like that he would have had to work out like a....beast;). I only watched this because of its connection with Unbreakable and the upcoming Glass. There is not necessarily a happy ending here but definitely a harbinger of things to come.

A great piece of acting by J Mcavoy and J Mcavoy and J mcavoy.....etc. I loved the content ,the director. There wasn't much to not like. The lead should have received the golden statue for this work.

This is definitely one not to be watched with younger viewers. It has a very disturbing plot. The story lines had all kinds of twists and turns all the way through. This is not the typical movie you can guess ahead on. The lead actor was amazing in being able to portray his character in such a way, he made it very clear to the viewer who they were watching at that moment. I'm being vague to not put a spoiler. It is absolutely not a story for the faint of heart.

Tons of quotes in IMDb but not:

DID P1 of 2:
One identity in an individual with Dissociative Identity Disorder can have high cholesterol. One. There have been cases where one identity is allergic to bee stings. The others are not. Are there moments where two identities can coexist at the same time? There are times when two identities can take the "light" or "the spot" or consciousness at the same time. This happened with a student that I was working with. And her left and right hand were taking notes in different hand-writings about separate things at the same time.

DID P2 of 2:

The differences in the identities can be dramatic. As much as the difference between you and me and every person in that auditorium. The identities have different IQ's. They have different physical strengths. One personality is a Russian weightlifter and can lift three times his body weight. Their ability to hyper-focus and have different experiences is astounding. Have these individuals, through their suffering, unlocked the potential of the brain? Is this the ultimate doorway to all things we call unknown? Is this where our sense of the supernatural comes from?
