This is the first Iron Man comic volume I've read. The story arc is quite good. Tony Stark has the chance to make a fresh start: his company stock is down, Pepper Potts is out of the picture, he has a new love interest, and he has new armor. He's facing a villain from his past with a mysterious agenda, making the confrontations with her action-packed and more complicated than usual. This also marks the first appearance of Victor von Doom since Secret Wars, and it's fun to see Tony bouncing off of him. My only complaint is that Bendis's Stark feels like he's lifted from Robert Downey Jr.'s on-screen portrayal of him, but it works once the story is flowing. That certainly helps pack in the humor; I laughed out loud quite a few times through this volume.

As for the art, Marquez provides beautiful detail and great action, ranging from quiet moments to awesome displays of the Iron Man armor's new abilities. Ponsor's color work is a bit too glossy for my taste, but the balance of light and shadow is excellent and fits the story perfectly. Cowles' lettering is fantastic, perfect for emphasis and making it a real page-turner.

I read this awhile ago so it might say something that I don't remember too much about the story. But I'm probably being harsh. The story line about Stark's true parents was good. It thankfully added to the character more than it subtracted. Sometimes Marvel's ideas concern me when they tweak classic characters but more often than not they turn out well. This would be Exhibit A.

Iron Man's tech is finally back to be being ahead of the curve in this collection.

Decent story but I was honestly more interested in what Stark's new Iron Man could do throughout this read.

There are still good Marvel books out there and this is probably at the top of the list. It was just an absolute joy to read. The story is well written, a bit mysterious, and the new suit is simply awesome. Definitely read this.
