This is a 2012 drama about Pierre who has decided to pare down his life, renouncing sex and dedicating himself to achieving spiritual peace.
Although the story seems interesting, the performances of the major actors appear so unnatural, awkward, clumsy and ill-contrived that I feel so pathetic especially when Pierre makes love with a sexmaniac-like-albeit-normal-looking oddly-behaving woman.
Those scenes make me feel too unbearabale to watche the movie that I quit viewing.

This was an interesting story of a would-be peaceful journey that gained a sidekick. Unfortunately, this film's lead male character was so dull, uncharismatic, and unappealing that it turned me off the whole story. The lead female character was also self-centred and annoying, with very little charm.

This Quebec-Japan co-production is enjoyable to watch. Director Claude Gagnon did a good job in pulling the story together, one about the bonding between an ageing man from Quebec and a much younger woman in Japan. The scenes shot in Okinawa are stunningly beautiful, and to me is collectively one big bonus from watching the film. Credibility aside, this is a feel-good movie. And it did make my day.

There's some good footage of Japan in this film, in fact it feels a bit like a travelog--one with an unconvincing story attached to it. Better casting might have helped. The lack of any true chemistry between the two actors is palpable. Because of this the characters come across as simply two troubled and desperate people--unless that's the point. It's one of those films where it's hard to determine what's intended. I found it hard to muster any empathy for either character.

Sexual Content: There is no nudity in this film but on two occasions you are treated to the screams, loud screams, of a woman at the height of her sexual activities. Not for kids for sure.
