I was actually disappointed by this book, and I won't be looking to continue this series. In my opinion, the main character, Emily, was not likeable for me. From the beginning, she proved to be full of herself, disrespecting her mother (especially when they are talking about their new home on the first night) and acting like she can boss around her brother however she'd like. Navin was actually my favourite character because of this, and I don't think Emily deserved to be the protagonist. She thinks that she's the leader of her brother when her brother is far more cautious about things than she is (for example, when she uses the amulet's power). Even after she agrees to Miskit and the other robots, Emily still doesn't take on full responsibility on the amulet. When the elf captured her, she was willing to just give the amulet to him. Her exact words were seriously, "If you want the amulet, just take it!" Like, just a while ago, the others had shown how they relied on her inheritance of the amulet, and now she has no problem giving it away?? And Silas's last words were about her protecting the amulet. Not a great book regarding the characters, in my opinion; I got annoyed by them quite easily.

This is a great read. Full of adventure, fantasy, and a AMULET. Though, at some parts it can get boring. Overall, this a great book.
