Definitely one of Hitchcock's best.
Montgomery Cliff delivers a fine performance as a priest accused of the murder his former lovers blackmailer. The priest has heard the confession of the real killer and knows who he is but can't reveal his identity due to his vow to guard the sanctity of the confessional.
The photography in black and white is classic noir using light and shadow to enhance the setting of old Quebec City.
Good script the story doesn't falter for a moment, totally absorbing.
