Great songwriter, amazing singer!
Coming to Miranda Lambert as a new listener I was really impressed with the scope of her songwriting. A double cd at a time of downloads and sound bytes is a sign of a musician who's in the business for the long haul. I'm going to keep following to see where she's headed!
Miranda Lambert remains the only musician whose every album I own, and if this had come out earlier in 2016, it would've been my record of the year, no contest. Gorgeous and thoughtful, this record strikes a perfect balance between melancholy, self-reflective heartbreak and there's-always-a-ray-of-light rabble-rousing. I don't say this lightly: it's her best yet.
Full album available in freegal now. Nice beats and good old country music. Rolling Stone's glowing in depth review said it best: a double-disc magnum opus that tackles breakups, booze, friendships, fetishes, old scars and new beginnings over the course of 24 songs.
And one more tune about hearbreak, watch "Tin Man" in "Videos."
I had high expectations for this album and Miranda exceeded those expectations with yet another honest, heart-wrenching masterpiece. Miranda is a confident, strong woman and yet she is able to reveal such haunting depth and vulnerability. I am also impressed that there are so many songs (2 discs) for this collection--it reveals just how prolific she is in her song-writing ability.
