Sinek's basic premise is "if you don't why you're doing something, the how and what don't matter in the long run". Using both historical and contemporary examples, he illustrates how organizations find their why and also lose their why. Sinek also addresses the issue of how companies lose their legendary success after the founder leaves the organization. I especially liked his chapter "The Biggest Challenge is Success". Although some of his examples are a bit dated with a 2011 publication date, his basic assumptions and premises ring true.

A very positive book with an interesting perspective on the things that motivate people, make them happy, and feel successful in their lives. It is a more in depth look at the theory Sinek explains in his TED talk of the same name, and his website https://www.startwithwhy.com/

I actually liked his follow up book better, but the principles that are shared within are all like "a - ha" moments that the reader will face palm themselves and be thankful that Sinek has finally put into words what they always felt: that the most successful among us are the ones who know WHY.

If you are an admirer of writers like Steven Covey, then Simon Sinek is an invaluable addition to the list. His Golden circle theory is well elaborated for individuals, entrepreneurs, organizations and even countries. Great examples of people of the "WHY" gene who inspire others to take actions and ideas that changed the world. It leaves us pondering though - Are the Why guys born so? Are there no people with both the why and How, or WHy, How and What genomes? Reminds me of an African proverb that you cannot learn to become left handed in old age. This is especially, if people with certain attributes are born with the traits. Everything the book says is believable and great. A little repetition in the middle of the book that slows my pace. But at the end, it gets over and surely, the book stimulates the why in me and what I do. A must read for leaders and leaders to be. And... they should not come back. Why should there be "I'll be back?"

This is one of those books that you have to OWN. It's such a great reminder to never loose sight of your beliefs. This book apply's to leaders in any field too! Highly recommended!!!
