This engaging picture book prompts young children to face their fear of monsters and take charge of the situation! The reader is prompted to tickle various parts of a monster, deconstructing the creature and repurposing his parts into a far less threatening scene. His horns become the moon, his legs and arms become trees, his nose becomes a car. . . . Slowly but surely, the monster's shapes build a peaceful nighttime landscape. Manceau's bold, geometric illustrations create a deceptively simple visual narrative that encourages readers to see the parts as well as the whole.

Reminiscent of Ed Emberley's Go Away, Big Green Monster! , this book empowers the child to be brave and clever in the face of adversity.

I presented this story as a felt board activity at story time and it was a huge success. It will work equally as well just reading and looking at the illustrations to see how body parts are repurposed. Children were anticipating the way body parts would move and were calling out that the Monster was gone. A great book.

the tickle monster is REAL!!! But don't worry Edouard Manceau has done a lot of research so we can all be safe. He shows us where the tickle monsters natural habitat is and gives us step by step instructions on how to defeat this menace. Id say this is a book every household could use. Im getting a copy for my parents, cause the tickle monster is always hanging around my dad and I want him to be safe too
