Classic !!!! teenage Natalie Portman ~420

Luc Beeson is always good if violent. This is the film that launched Natalie Portman. So much better in this than her later role in Star Wars where she was wasted. Jean Reno is always outstanding in a very understated way

Considering what it is I'd call this a fairly class act. Violent, but not conspicuously so, no slow motion gratuitous sex, not titshots, no guts spilled all over the place and savored in the eye of the camera.

I really liked this movie. It kept me interested throughout the entire film. It is slightly predictable though and a 12 year old Natalie Portman is pretty heavily sexualized.

Nuanced. Way better than most shoot-em-ups. The Reno-Portman relationship is unique and poignant.

I saw this and have this. This was such, such a good movie for a young Natalie Portman. She carried it. Genius. This movie is from the 90s I believe, but it still packs a punch, and the ending is HEARTBREAKING. They put a STING (from the group THE POLICE) song in there to drive home the ending. Excellent.

When my friend brought this movie to my house i wasn't sure if it would be good or bad. But she told me that Gary Oldman plays a bad guy in this film and i was sold.
Although Mr. Oldman is a fine actor i was surprised that the story kept my interest and the sound track by "Sting" is very nice. There's some good audio from guns and explosions. But the story is the real reason why you should watch this on your HOMETHEATER. Seeing Natalie Portman as the young lady learning the tricks of the trade from a hired hit man was interesting and unexpected. I'm giving this unexpected gem 4 stars. Good story, good cast, good sound, and a nice song by Sting. Milk with Kellog's Corn Flakes, sliced bananas, a few strawberries, sugar, and toast with butter and jelly on the side.

Unique, well written, sad but sweet French film with some great casting. Gary Oldman is perfect for the role of the dirty "loose cannon" D.E.A. agent. Jean Reno is "dead on" as the strong silent type hitman. But I think the success of this flick is carried on the shoulders of an adorable and very mature and talented 12 year old Natalie Portman. Terrific movie. FIVE STARS.

This is one of kind must watch movie, where amazing Nathalie Portman debuts. Yet this particular DVD doesn't have the full movie. a good 10 or 15 minutes is missing, which is very essential for the character building of the movie. Without that part the movie looks as just another action flick. I wonder why they removed the scenes where Mathilda (Nathali) blends with the character Leon by joining him with the cleaning and all the other scenes. Try to find the original version. Good Luck!

Mathilda: I hope you're not lying Leon. I really hope that deep down there's no love in you. And if there is, I think in a few minutes you'll regret you never said anything. I love you Leon.

Mathilda: Leon, I think I'm kinda falling in love with you.
[Leon chokes on his milk]
Mathilda: It's the first time for me, you know?
Léon: [wiping himself off] How do you know it's love if you've never been in love before?
Mathilda: 'Cause I feel it.
Léon: Where?
Mathilda: [stoking her stomach] In my stomach. It's all warm. I always had a knot there and now... it's gone.
Léon: Mathilda, I'm glad you don't have a stomach ache any more. I don't think it means anything.

Mathilda: I am writing here the name of a girl in the class who makes me sick. If things get hot, she'll take the heat.

Apr 04, 2011

Mathilda: I've decided what to do with my life. I wanna be a cleaner.
Léon: You wanna be a cleaner?
[passes her a gun and bullets]
Léon: Here, take it. It's a goodbye gift. Go clean. But not with me. I work alone, understand? Alone.
Mathilda: Bonnie and Clyde didn't work alone. Thelma and Louise didn't work alone. And they were the best.

Léon: And stop saying "okay" all the time. Okay?
Mathilda: Okay.
Léon: Good.
