Expect to see Julia Holter's fourth album on a lot of year end best of lists. When trying to describe her, I said something like "avant-indie," but I read another description of her music as "expermentalist pop symphonies" (Stereogum). It is music that feels more composed than written, if that makes sense. It's very well put together, played, and produced, but it didn't make much of an impact on me and it really didn't have much of a wilderness feel to it. Like maybe add some bird noises or wind chimes. I did like the aptly named "Night Songs."
