I am a big fan of Christine Feehan and have read all the books in this series. While, I did enjoy this book, I thought that the sex between the life mates took up most of the book. I know that is a big part of who they are, but I also like reading about their winning fights with their enemies. There was so of that as well, but I wanted more than just all sex. That beings said, I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Where was the plot? Yawn....
I think this book fully divorced me from Feehan's Dark Series. Now that my intellect has matured, I actually need a compelling story line to keep my attention, not just sex scenes.
This is the first book that I have read from Christine Feehan. I will be honest with my opinion of this book and her as an author. I have read many fantasy/science fiction adventure romances and this is is not a very good book to read. There is no story line or plot. Where is the adventure and suspense to keep the reader interested. The only thing she wrote about through most of the book was exotic sex. Is this the version of the "Vampires Fifty Shades of Grey!!" If this is the only thing she knows how to write about in her novels, then she has very little talent. Anyone can write about this topic and she is very disappointing as an author. I know that I will never read another one of Christine Feehan's books again. I was a total waste of my time. This is no best seller to me!
I always enjoy escaping into a Dark book by Feehan. She strayed a little from her normal formula for this book but not far. Quick, easy read!
couldnt get into it
Practically unending sex, very little story. Made for a very quick read since I skipped the frequent, lengthy sex scenes. Do yourself a favor. Read the first 3 chapters, then chapter 8, 19-20. Seriously. That's about all you need to read to get the story. I think I will skip the rest of the books and just ask someone else what happened. That's the only interest I still have in these. And, truly, I'm not sure I even have THAT much interest.
Disappointed. (common theme lately with Feehan's books) There was such potential but as usual .... neanderthal man .... insecure woman .... no plot ... and oh they had sex. Yawn.
Even the crazy grandmother turned out to be another insecure woman and no crazy happening.
I liked that we finally got a character that was mature. I always thought there would be women growing old alone because they were a life mate and didn't know it. Thanks Christine for finally given them a place in your stories.
I loved Dark Promises, and hope to see Andre and Teagan. Fane and Trixie, and Aleksei and Gabrielle, and their adventures in America...of course, I sure hope that Luiz and Gary find their lifemates soon. My favorite part, still, was where both Mikhail and Gregori --the two most powerful of the Carpathians-- were most reluctant to call Zacarias De La Cruz on his personal cell phone number to warn him that Luiz De La Cruz could lose his color vision and his emotions...very fast, and could turn very dangerous ...even faster, as had already happened to Gary. I really felt sorry for both Gary, and Luiz, and want to learn more about Luiz's people. Also, you must read Christine Feehan's Shadow Rider--first book in her new Shadow series--in its a fun read..the sequel to Shadow Rider will be out in 2017, and feature Ricco Ferraro.
