A spine-tingling debut about the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse in reverse as a teen struggles to retain hope--and her sanity--while on the run from a cunning and determined killer.

Ruth Carver has always competed like her life depends on it. Ambitious. Tough. Maybe even mean. It's no wonder people call her Ruthless.

When she wakes up with a concussion in the bed of a moving pickup trick, she realizes she has been entered into a contest she can't afford to lose.

At a remote, rotting cabin deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ruth's blindfold comes off and she comes face-to-face with her captor. A man who believes his mission is to punish bad girls like Ruth. A man who has done this six times before.

The other girls were never heard from again, but Ruth won't go down easy. She escapes into the wilderness, but her hunter is close at her heels. That's when the real battle begins. That's when Ruth must decide just how far she'll go in order to survive.

Back home, they called her Ruthless. They had no idea just how right they were.

This book was pretty good. I can admit that I didn't love this book in a way that it would be worth reading again. I didn't like how there was basically only two characters in the whole story while everyone else were just side characters. Ruth was smart, I'll give it that, but the cat and mouse idea just dies out pretty quick. Just saying, if you want to settle down with a thriller that is pretty basic go right a head read what you love.

Ruth is kidnapped and is determined to survive. She is strong, smart, and brave. The book is written in short chapters that make it a quick, scary read.

Are you tired of books where the heroine is captured by a dragon/giant/psycho killer, and has nothing to do except wait endlessly for the prince/hero/boyfriend to rescue her? Then “Ruthless” is the book for you. Ruth, a horse riding champion whose nickname is “Ruthless” (because of her attitude) is indeed kidnapped by a psycho killer who thinks it is his duty to “punish” her. When she sees a heap of girls’ underwear from victims who he has previously “punished”, Riuth knows she has to escape—and fast. She is alone and naked in the middle of the wilderness, with only her wits, stubbornness, and attitude to survive. Adams' writing style echos Stephen King’s early books (though I’m sure King would have had a dream sequence showing all the previous victims). This is one thriller will grab you and won’t let you go.
