Kingdoms collide in Sarah J. Maas's epic fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series.

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don't.

With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what -- and who -- to sacrifice if she's to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.

I felt this novel was a bit racy for young adult readers. Interesting plot twists and turns along the way.

What. The. Heck. Just. Happened? QUEEN OF SHADOWS had such a satisfying ending and then SJM throws THIS curve ball out of no where. Gah. I can't review much without spoilers but once again, Maas has given me all of the feels, good bad and otherwise. That ending was insane. And the journey leading up to it was long but damn, it was good. I enjoyed the romance and adventure as well. Once again, my only critique is that it's too long. There is so much to get to this point. And it's not even over yet! But I guess that's what epic high fantasies are all about. I can't believe I have to wait a year for the next one...yes, Chaol's story is out but let's be honest, how can we possibly care about Chaol after that cliffhanger?! I can't wait to see where all of this takes us.

I was soooooo heartbroken at the end! I was like " Why, Sarah Why?!" I was so mad at her. But I'll forgive her when I find out what happens in the next book. And I was disappointed when the Tower of Dawn came out I was looking forward to the next novel! Not the Novella! Any who The Series and the latest book are captivating and heartbreaking. But I still love it!

this book has ripped my heart out and torn it to shreds, but I loved every single second of it. Sarah J. Mass books are life and the guys in it have raised my standards for men so high I will probably be single for the rest of my life.

Being book 5 in the Throne of Glass series it won't leave fans disappointed! I have read and loved every single book by Sarah J Maas, and I can say with certainty that this one is one action packed, gripping, and full of wonderful characters.

This series is geared towards young adults+ that enjoy epic and intense story lines, as well as complex main characters. Like most Fantasy YA published today this book does have sexual content and violence. If you aren't a fan then don't read it, however if you have read the genre before you shouldn't be surprised.

In this installment you get to witness Celaena Sardothien (main character) as a strong fighter not just in the physical sense, but mentally as well. Celaena (aka Aelin) is always using her assassin skills to plan ahead to protect her loved ones and friends. Readers get to see deeper character development (especially with one of my favorite characters, Manon!).

Sarah J. Maas is a talented writer. She knows exactly when to switch POVs on the reader. She dangles the head of a secret or clue in front of her readers, then switches to a different storyline. This style kept me hooked and desperately wanting to know what happens next.

I love how you literally have no idea what Aelin is planning! You really have to pay attention to the smallest details, and even then you are always surprised. But, there was too much sexual content to be appropriate for young adults. That aside, Sarah is an amazing artist. I've only read a handful of series that I have enjoyed quite so thoroughly! I cannot wait to read the last book, but I'm dreading, too!

Frightening or Intense Scenes: Not suitable for anyone under the age of 20. This book shocked me with the amount of "mature content" in all respects. i couldn't finish it.

Sexual Content: I would rate this R even without considering all the violence and intensity just purely based on the sex scenes LITERALLY EVERY OTHER CHAPTER. Every single major character is paired off with a sexual partner and there is way too much romance and innapropriete sexual content.

Violence: There is a lot of blood.

"I promise you that no matter how far I go, no matter the cost, when you call for my aid, I will come. I promise you on my blood, on my family's name, that I will not turn my back on Terrasen as you have turned your back on me. I promise you, Darrow, that when the day comes and you crawl for my help, I will put my kingdom before my pride and not kill you for this. I think the true punishment will be seeing me on the throne for the rest of your miserable life."
