Go ahead and watch it. It's very entertaining and you will see how political campaigning actually works in a big city. Weiner comes off as likeable and, of course, flawed, but he and his wife are so glamorous you forget about how tawdry it all is.

This documentary was originally intended to chronicle disgraced politician Anthony Weiner's comeback. Instead, it captured his downfall.

There's a lot of love in this film - from Huma, the campaign staff and supporters. Weiner is scrappy and a fighter. He could've been a contender.

Wow, this guy, Anthony Weiner, is awesome, and explosive. The middle class needs him, his articulation, his fight, oh man that fight. People make mistakes all of the time, whether they admit it or not, and I think what he offers as a politician -- and it's a difficult profession, but some people like Weiner excel in it, with certitude -- should overshadow his mistakes by large margins because it's a personal matter rather than a public one; but his critics will lead you to believe it is the other way around because they don't want competent leaders and serious challengers, like Anthony Weiner, to particularly the extreme conservatives -- resist his critics' assessment. Donald Trump blasts Anthony Weiner as a 'pervert' in this film, um, excuse me? I believe the one who boasted about grabbing any pussy he wanted was none other than Donald Trump, which sparked the worldwide Women's March protest in 2017, and he does this in front of his family and the entire world. Let's understand the whole situation here before making rash judgments, and let's also acknowledge the strength of Huma, his wife: They probably need to spend more time on strengthening their marriage and their family as a unit, if that is their desire, but that requires a mutual effort and commitment. Where everyone else is concerned, and if I were a New York resident, I would vote for Anthony Weiner for mayor, definitely. Much credit goes to maintaining unprecedented filming access, an honest depiction of a passionate politician.

Judge not, lest you be judged!

This is an engaging study of a man I can hardly fathom. He's got undeniable talent for confrontation and would be an asset in any tough head-on struggle. And yet, he has uncontrollable compulsions that too are unfathomable. The people around him can be difficult to understand as well. His high-flying, ambivalent, suffering wife who is completely aware yet stays with him until years later, late in the 2016 elections, and submits to public scrutiny in this film. His accuser "Pinapple" who claims to support his agenda, but betrays him for 15 minutes of Howard Stern fame and a porn film. The many enthusiastic young supporters who give their time in spite of such glaring liabilities. The man at the Jewish deli who snipes at him behind his back "He married an Arab woman...disgusting!" condemning Weiner literally behind his back. (The explosion that follows is defining and compelling.)

So there's tremendous nuance in this live documentary and so many unanswered questions, but there is no comedic relief as the story builds relentlessly. That maybe bears repeating: There's no comic relief in this film. But I suppose some, like the tabloid-press in the film, might get a kick out of watching reporters relentlessly hold him underwater while he struggles to find his political voice and reclaim his dignity. I have little sympathy for such sport myself.

Weiner clearly is a narcissist without a sense of shame. Interesting that he texted that bimbo that the government provides a 'secret service for hot women'. I wouldn't doubt it when I think about what happened to Marilyn Monroe. He really needs to take up a new hobby.

One feels sorry for Huma Abedin, having had endured time with her husband, who in this documentary covering his attempted political comeback, comes across as a narcissistic, oblivious jerk even without his scandals. A pretty damning indictment in the end of a man who regardless of everything will never get the point.

A must-see movie for political junkies and/or anyone interested in how the mighty fall. I actually like Huma Amedin and felt for her. But it's hard to feel sorry for Wiener when he was his own worst enemy.

This documentary should be recommended to remind people of Hillary Rodham Clinton's horrible, horrible judgment [which everyone should have realized by this time at least, from reading those leaked speeches and emails] - - and anyone who would vote for someone who promises Goldman Sachs that they will destroy workers' protections, work to reduce their wages, and destroy social security should have their head examined - - and ditto those Trump voters.
[Personally, the two women presidential ticket I would love to see would be Winona Laduke/Barbara Lee, or Barbara Lee/Winona Laduke!]

Not in any way funny as the cover suggests. At times this dragged and was hard to pay attention to. This is a man who is so annoying that I am not sure how he got elected. He has no shame and threw away everything he had , his family and career, to engage in this perversion which seems to overwhelm his consciousness. The personality defect was the interesting part of the movie.
