An incredibly fun and heartfelt crowd-pleaser with one of the best soundtracks in recent memory.

Good-hearted movie. Sort of the Commitments meets Breakfast Club with lots of 1980s soundtracks. Well worth the watch.

From the director of "Once" and "Begin Again" comes another heartwarming film about the ways in which music can impact a person's life. "Sing Street" is a coming of age story set in Dublin, Ireland, and while the plot tends to be predictable, I still found this to be an entertaining film. The child actors are charming, which is particularly impressive because most are unknowns. Fans of the 80s will enjoy "Sing Street" because it is very much a portrait of that decade with a soundtrack to match. I enjoyed watching the kids work their way through the popular bands of the time while trying to find belonging in a band of their own.

Such a heartwarming movie! Music is our best friend.

It was so boring I couldn't be bothered to finish the movie. I don't mean it was 'bad'. It was competently directed and had believable characters and well written dialogue, and I could see someone who isn't me getting a lot out of it. It's just that the movie offered no compelling reason to care.

I had expected more from this movie based on the reviews. The plot was pretty predictable and familiar, the music felt more and more inauthentic to the era as the movie went on, and most of the supporting characters were totally two dimensional. That being said, there were fun moments. It's not horrible, but it's not great.

Such a pleasant and realistic contrast with the way Hollywood usually treats movies about adolescents. Here the kids are normal, with normal problems and hopes and desires and live lives far removed from the earth-shaking angsts that American teens so often display cinematically. This is comfortable, gentle, tender, compassionate enjoyable film making. And watching.

Watched this with the teenagers they liked it. Typical boy meetd and tries to impress girl storyline. Great soundtrack of 80's music. Nice feel good movie

I can't give this more than 1/2 a star. I kept hoping it would get better. I know the main character had problems with his home life, too much fighting and drinking by his parents. I did like the fantasy prom scene, band in suits, everyone dancing and having a great time. To each their own, I guess.

A story about first love, music, family, and independence, set in 1980s Dublin, this film is definitely what I would call "cute," but in the least-cheesy sense of the term. There is emotional weight to this story, but it is also just a lot of fun, and you want to root for the young characters who dream of a world full of hope, even when reality seems discouraging--I absolutely loved the imaginary "prom" scene during one of the band's songs. Fans of "The Commitments" and "Once" will no doubt find a lot to love here, but also fans of "Back to the Future," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "Pretty in Pink," and other '80s movies, as they do such a good job of recapturing the '80s feel.

Your problem is that you're not happy being sad. But that's what love is, Cosmo. Happy sad.
