Then, out of nowhere, she asked...

Some quotes in IMDb as these few favorites:
Phil: Man loses his wife, he's a widower. Child loses a parent, they're an orphan. But losing a child... there is no word for this. And it shouldn't be.
Chris: [in his kitchen with sledgehammers] What are you exactly doing?
Davis: I'm taking apart my marriage.
Karen: [on the phone] I'm sorry again, mister Mitchell. This is so unprofessional.
Davis: Customer service is a profession?
SummaryAdd a Summary
Arriving at the hospital after a fatal car crash that kills his young wife, widower Davis Mitchell tries to buy peanut M&Ms from a vending machine in the ICU, but they get jammed against the glass. And so, he writes to the customer service department of the vending company in long letters that overshare the details of his life. The woman who reads his letters in customer service, Karen, contacts him. While struggling with the changes in his life, he forms a relationship, first via correspondence and then face-to-face, with Karen. Meanwhile, his father-in-law Phil is plugging away at creating a foundation in his daughter's name, making all the decisions and artificially including his son-in-law by having him sign off. Pushed to the brink inside, Davis begins dismantling everything in his life with the tools his father-in-law gave him two Christmases ago because of encouragement he received to take things apart in the face of tragedy to discover what's important before rebuilding. He takes apart doors, lighting fixtures, computers, and an overpriced cappuccino machine. He is in the process of demolition and adopts the task full-time and full-fledged.
