Warning: This meme will end civilization. Meme is an idea that starts with an individual, and then spreads to multiple persons and potentially entire societies. Richard Dawkins suggests a meme's success comes from its effectiveness to the host. But history shows that destructive memes can spread just as rapidly through society. Memetic shows the progression of a weaponized meme that leads to the utter annihilation of the human race within 72 hours. The root of this apocalypse is a single image on the internet, a "meme" in the popular sense. A meme that changes everything. Memetic shows the true terror of the internet. The world will end not with a bang, but with a single online image when creator and writer James Tynion IV (The Woods , Batman Eternal ) teams up with newcomer Eryk Donovan ( In the Dark Horror Anthology, House in the Wall) to bring horror to a whole new generation.

This is how the world ends, not with a bang but with a cute picture of a smiling sloth giving a thumbs-up. Embedded in the picture is a post-hypnotic suggestion: those who look at the picture want to look at it again, and share it with others. The more they look at it, the more they want to do nothing BUT look at it, a feedback loop that sends most of the world population spiraling into obsession and madness. And since those addicted by the meme are posting it everywhere they can, avoiding infection is near-impossible - can you get through the day without glimpsing, even for a second, ANY phone, TV, or computer screen? Any poster or flyer? Any printout slipped into your mailbox, or between the pages of a library book? What makes this sci-fi horror novel scary is the fact that such a disaster is, at least in theory, possible in the real world. The only reason it hasn't happened yet is that no-one has figured out how to make such an image.
