I thought I would give this game a try after seeing it on the library shelf. It is one of the worst RPGs I have ever played. The characters are unappealing and the dungeon design is terrible. I'm used to playing games of a certain standard and this one is greatly lacking in fun. I would recommend you play other JRPGS including Persona 4 and Tales of Zesteria or Berseria.

I had no expectation going into this. I have not seen the show if there is one. What I got on the disc was youthful and enthusiastic 2-D flashcard collection (reminds me of Disgaea games) of cutaway conversations between a lazy hero and his sword spirit/fairy interrupted by mediocre dungeon design (is this supposed to be exploration?) and most often interrupted by repetitive tutorials every 5-7 minutes (not unlike Dragon Quest Heroes) which will have you yelling "SKIP!!" by the 4th or 5th one.

The old 8-16 bit games Vandal Hearts, Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc. all managed to do something very similar to this yet much more engaging and epic feeling. I felt no sense of accomplishment even when I got something cool or won playing this game. What passes for a story does not compare to more moving mainstream RPGs like FF7+, Second Son, Zelda games, and even Garden Warefare. Rent if you must, save your money for unless you are a hardcore fan.
