As well done as most any star-studded spy-action flick w/a techno-psycho-neuro twist. Well, Ok, not too many of those. So it took time and space to build the technical foundation, but in spite of that it kept things going pretty hot, even then developing the characters very nicely. All while maximal brutality (emotionally horrific) courses gradually curve to parallel and increasingly resonate with a decidedly more empathic heart twang. I thought the CIA boss (director?) was a bit too much of a singularly focused hot-headed cowboy for us to believe he could get to that position. But that helped the plot along, even while I'm thinking "you idiot..." Every one else was very believable. Having so much success getting through so many multiple security systems as one might imagine necessary to set up the very heart of the plot, impending danger to utmost extremes, could make for a stretch of believability, and so in itself might otherwise make the very substance of a movie. But that is totally skipped in this one, and the above noted foundation building alone took enough movie minutes. But once taken in or tolerated, it's a wild action ride carrying the other more complex elements. The discussion in the special features is especially rich, call it multiplexed, into the depths of making a new kind of movie, one that moves very fast into a very interesting collage of places, new directors and experienced actors not always agreeing about how to move mentally, emotionally, and/or physically into hard action scenes, yet obviously collaborating.

"Criminal" is not worth paying theater money to see. Gary Oldman will always play the pint-sized monster with a unremovable chip on his shoulder, but someone he's always in a spot where he can hurt people. Tom Lee Jones looks so old and faded. He's only a name and could be replaced in this movie by just about anyone. Gal Gadot does absolutely nothing for me. Kevin Costner looks suitable to his role. But, and I mean a big but, this movie is ridiculous on numerous levels. The doctors have to remove the cranium of the donor to get at his frontal cells. Kevin Costner, the donee, only has an incision mark at the back of his head. Costner gets a serious gash on the inside of his thigh and yet is able to run and do fantastic feats. And, he gets shot but that can't slow him down. This is a German made film and I don't consider them filmmakers.

Poor senseless violence.

Not bad if you are home alone on a Saturday night and you want to kill some time before going to bed. The idea here is to take an incarcerated hillbilly sociopath (Kevin Costner) and put him -- improbably -- in the world capital of London battling both the CIA and anarchist terrorists bent on blowing up Western Civilization. It works because, as other commentators have noted, Costner is quite good.

Kevin Costner truly has found his calling now. He`s an excellent bad bad man.

I shouldn't have been surprised by the level of gratuitous violence and swearing, but I still feel tricked. Also, the acting was terrible - I don't think there was one good performance.

Potentially a super sci-fi spy action thriller but saddled with a force fitting subplot on a frightful family reunion and kinship between a new young widow, her daughter and an aging scary looking sociopath ... only if the writers had chosen another character for the role (see "Quotes".)
Critics rating: 1/4 Roger Ebert, 30% rottentomates, 37% metacritic, 6.3/10 IMDb.

My 1st time seeing Costner play a rough bad guy. For Reynolds, this was like a reverse, "Self/Less." I think this was better than "Self/Less." If only brain "repair" was this easy ... this would bring about a whole new definition of "normal" and "rehabilitating to acceptable civilian life."

For the persons that like this style of movie I don't think you'll be disappointed. Kevin Costner played his part well. and I loved seeing areas of England, where I grew up.

I was expecting not to like this, and while the plot twists were predictable, I was pleasantly surprised to be wowed by Kevin Costner's performance [took me awhile to even recognize him] and the overall arc of this movie. [Of course, with the abysmal movies of 2016, the bar wasn't very high.] Costner as a psychopath rocks!

Well, betrayal if denounce corruption mass at the highest levels ... and expose political assassinations ... yes, I am guilty.
-But his accusations were never really tested in court.
Of course not. How could that be? Police, judges and courts are ... all part of the most powerful criminal enterprise in the world.

Not sure of the exact wording but Quaker Wells made his point, either:

You wanted to use a death row inmate instead of a Seal Team Leader.

or:

Because you wanted a psychopath instead of a hero from Seal Team Six.
