This show is epic! I totally loved it. I basically had to binge-watch it was so good.

I recently borrowed the Spartacus t.v. series – I only made it through season one but searched on Manu Bennett (he was in that series and he played an Orc in the Lord of the Rings movies) and he appears in this series. It is based on a series of books by Terry Brooks – a master author of sci-fi /fantasy fiction. I have never read any of his books and was not familiar with the Shannara Chronicles. It was produced by MTV, so I didn’t have high expectations but the series is quite good. It was filmed in New Zealand and has many cast members who were involved in LOTR and Hobbit movies and many of their production team. So it was visually good and the story was interesting; having druids, elves, humans, gnomes, trolls, demons, princesses and kings (the main king was played by Jonathan Rhys Davies who was Gimli in LOTR). Story revolves around a kid who is half-human / half-elf. His father gives him his elf stones when he dies and they of course have special powers to fend off demons. There are 24 books in this series (so far) and I believe they are filming a second season, so borrow it if you enjoy sci-fi/fatansy stuff and maybe begin on the books to see where it all leads to . . .
