I liked this fiction DVD 50/50. It is about identity theft. Simon (S) is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. S is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. S feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. S treats others with care are respect and expects the same back. S tries to do the right thing. S is protective of those he cares about. James (J) is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite personality: J is over confident, charismatic and smooth with women. Women are attracted to J but not to S. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life. J takes credit at work for what S accomplished. J gets the job promotions and S gets the discipline from the employment superiors. J is seeing many women at once. J is lying to all the women. J gets one of the women pregnant. She tries to commit suicide. S calls 911 and saves her just in time. She looses the baby but lives. She is very depressed. In the end, S jumps off a building on a tarp to make it look like J has committed suicide to get back his life. S lives from the jump.

OMG--- Incredible, spooky, dank, trippy, loopy, mindf--kish, alternateuniversey, thought-bending, cool, highly artsy film, "The Double (2013)," starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska. Wow!! Rated this DVD 📀 4of5stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. 😲🤯. God I wish I'd seen in theatres.. Ending confusing so be sure to read up on spoiler sites and forums to get more out of the film. #Elements of -- Fight Club, Gattacca, Brasil, David Lynch, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Netflix's "Black Mirror," The Twilight Zone, Zero Theorem (2013), Rushmore, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind!! PS. Wow.. Reddit is so useful!! #SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM. IF YOU *HAVE*, THE BELOW IS REFRESHING AND QUITE CLARIFYING!

This is a difficult movie to follow, but worth the effort.

Waste of time. Dark, un-connected thoughts. Watched bonus features hoping to get some clairity but that didnt help. Seemed like a goid topic but wasnt executed very well. Guess Im in the minority though.

This was defiantly a different type of movie than I am use to. It was kinda weird I thought I see from reading the other comments a lot of people liked it, but I honesty I thought it was a waste of my time by the end of it. I was getting confused with the two characters since both were the same guy so sometimes it was kinda hard to keep up on knowing who was who. Idk maybe I should watch it one more time just to be able to feel it a bit better.

The film has a certain style that I like, and initially shows promise. However, in the end it falls flat. Disappointing.

While this got a rave rating from Rotten Tomatoes (86 fresh), my wife and I found it trite, poorly produced, terrible sound quality and not worth the time to watch. It is based on an old Russian novella so is naturally dark and brooding. Written for a younger generation that has little first hand knowledge of the trials of living in the USSR, we did not care for it at all.

Didn't realize there were 2 movies with the same name but totally different subjects. My mistake for not checking properly. This was a totally boring movie.

I usually like Artsy films but this one NOT! Maybe Jesse had something to do with it as I am not fond of him. the film was boring and weird and not in an interesting way.

James to Melanie: But you need to realize that data entry and collection and computers and stuff, it can be sensual. It does have a romance. It can be sexy. All these lives that we're recording, their hopes, their dreams, their loves...Each person out there,
apart yet connected. We're giving these faceless people immortality.
Simon: No, it's just...I don't know, I would have never done that (after James demanded special order from waitress).
James: You don't like eggs?
Simon: No, I mean, I just...Don't think I would feel comfortable talking to someone like that.
James: She's a waitress. She's here to serve us. If you don't tell her what you actually want, how can she do her job?
Simon: No, I can see that...She can be a little short sometimes, and I do think being forthright certainly has its place. And I'm not, like, criticizing your behavior or anything.
