A feature film adaptation of the cult comic book and the popular animated television show. After prolonged exposure to radiation, four teenage turtles, Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, and Donatello, have mutated into ninjas and have begun living in the sewers of New York City. Under the guidance of a ninja master Splinter the Rat and Television reporter April, the Turtles embark on a mission to run crime out of the city and battle the warlord Shredder.
A quartet of humanoid turtles trained by their mentor in ninjitsu must learn to pull together in order to face the menace of Shredder and the Foot Clan.

I was a little too old for TMNT when it hit big, so I saw this for the first time with my son. While an essential part of 90s pop culture, it's pretty bad. It's most notable for Jim Henson's creature work, and it was the last film he worked on before his untimely death. While plenty goofy, it is a little more violent and darker than the cartoon, perhaps in an effort to rope in older kids. Corey Feldman voices one of the turtles, and M.C. Hammer contributes a song, but he's upstage by Partners in Kryme "Turtle Power." Followed by 2 sequels and a reboot. Oh, look for a young Sam Rockwell as one of the "punks."
