This was an unusual film. It blurs the line between documentary and horror in order to set the tension i suppose. The first hour is used to promote the subject matter and the last half hour is used to demonstrate the cause and effect of sticking your nose into places it doesn't belong. The casting of Ray Wise seemed odd; with a movie attempting to present itself as real life you would think they would get a no name actor to play such a prominent role as Dekker. Wise is a fine actor but his presence hurts the story by reminding the viewer that the whole premise is entirely implausible. The climax while good takes too long to really kick in. A few scarce scares in between moments of tension don't make this one stand out very well, but it's still better than a lot of the crap out there. A decent title worth checking out...barely.

The meta-narrative here was a good idea but the whole affair gets bogged down by trying to build false tension.

Perhaps a good plot idea, but it bogs down in lengthy talking heads as it works towards predictable developments.

I don't usually fast forward.

This is not my genre, and hopefully this film will be reviewed by those with more experience.
